We just got our stove a couple weeks ago and after getting ther initial smell out of the oven, the way it cooks is amazing! My fish fillets came out so crispy, like i had deep fried them! I love that it heats from not only the bottom, but from the top as well. Great stove!

Having assiduously researched ranges to replace one(by another manufacturer) that had succumbed to old age, I decided on the GE JB645FKDS. The color, black, was chosen to match our other kitchen appliances, while my wife was insistent on the finger-print- & smudge-proof finish. The purchase experience at a big box store was not ideal, but that, sadly, is to be expected and certainly did not constitute an insuperable problem, as I had assiduously researched ranges & decided on the GE in advance. Since delivery, ca. 1 month ago, the cooktop & oven have functioned admirably. The oven temperatures seem to be accurate, & the cooktop has valuable features: the controls allow for a small burner to be heated inside the two large front burners, and there's a melt setting for butter, chocolate, fondue, & the like. Oven controls are intuitive, but the manual will still be useful in this regard. The self-cleaning function has not yet been used.
Two caveats:
1. The unit does not come with an owner's manual, but one can be downloaded from the GE site.
2. The cooktop is immune neither to stains from grease splatters nor to scratches by cookware. Pre-treating the cooktop with the cleaner that is included with the unit, as we did, can minimize but not surmount this issue, as does post-use cleaning once the cooktop has cooled off Not a deal-breaker by any means, but do be careful.
In sum, we are eminently pleased with this GE range and, based on our experience to date, recommend it with enthusiasm.

Love the black slate finish. The flat cooktop seems to cook faster and hotter, so there's a learning curve to not burning or over cooking food. The flat cooktop surface has to be kept clean after each use, in order for it to maintain it's finish. Overall I'm very happy with it.

I'm very happy with my new GE range. I love the black slate finish. No complaints other than that you have to turn the oven on with the push button. On my old GE range the oven light went on whenever you opened the oven door. ThAt was a nice feature that the eliminated. ☹️ I hope this range last as long as my old one-30 yrs.

Love the features of the smaller burner inside the large burner. Love the black flat matte finish. My only issue is the first thing I used it for was to brew tea & the small pan overflowed & I couldn't get the stain off even with the cleaner it came with. Other than that I'm very pleased!
