I encourage you to look at the reviews. The reviews for this microwave are typically very poor and that was my experience as well. We had this microwave for less than two years and it completely broke beyond repair. It literally just stopped working. The only reason I bought the exact same microwave was because better and more highly reviewed microwaves were on back order for several weeks or months as well as the ridiculous cost of the framing kits for new/different microwaves. I already had the framing kit for this microwave and a new one was available within days so I just went ahead and bought the same microwave. I did buy the extended warranty through Home Depot because of course the factory warranty had just worn out on the existing one. Purchase this microwave with extreme caution and optimism.

Lots of special cooking choices. Popcorn button works grea. Express cook is so convenient and easy. Love the large numbers for the clock. The timer is always a nice tool to have and it's easy to locate. The inside is darker than the previous microwave but getting to like the color much better. Easy to clean. It does seem more difficult to see the food being cooked. It does detect food and will not cook if no food is in the microwave.

This is my second GE Profile microwave. Both lasted only 3 years. When the first one broke, I had to replace the skin because they discontinued the model I had. Unless I want to buy another new skin, I have to buy this model again, and replace it in 3 years again. Wasteful and environmentally unfriendly.

Love the sleek design and the grey interior. I wasn't sure it would blend with my other stainless appliances but it looks like my oven doors which works out great. I used the Black Slate surround which gave the whole unit a modern edge.

Flimsy pieces. Getting mounting screws into blind nuts drive you nuts! As a bonus the screw covers break in lieu of snapping in place. Call GE parts to get replacements under warranty and was told since I purchased at Best Buy, I have to pursue replacement from them. This purchase replaced one I installed in 2003, which inspired me to replace with GE. You never know!!

We've tried a number of microwaves over the years and the GE Profile line is easily our favorite. With other microwaves we missed little things like the responsive keypad, the ability to mute sounds and the quick start and add 30 seconds buttons. Cooking is good with zero complaints. Installation with the trim kit was easy.
We would definitely buy another GE Profile microwave again.

This unit works well. It is quite and strong. The door is a little bit of a problem as it wants to not open after being unused for several hours. I haven't been able to figure out why it is sticking, but it cooks well and is easy to use the control panel.

About time we need to replace 20 years old GE JE2840GB 002 model in Black. It's too bad similar Black units are hard to find. Not only microwave the trim kit is also not available for a newer model. Still waiting for Black trim kit. See photo. The door makes loud noise during closing and opening. It works the same as our old one.

This GE profile was purchased to replace and older model which had lasted about 10 years. Since it is built in, we were concerned about finding another model which would fit. We were very surprised and happy that this unit was nearly the same size, with a similar trim kit, to allow built in installation. It looks great and performs magnificently.

Pros: large capacity and powerful
Cons: the keypad display is hard to see (wish it was backlit), the door is loud when it closes, wish the beeper had a medium loudness setting (it's either very loud or mute).
This replaces a model JE1660GA that stopped working after 23 years. I really wish I had taken it to a repair shop before ordering a replacement. I miss that micorwave and its trim kit.

We had a GE microwave that was only 2 years old and started making grinding noises and smoking inside. So we replaced with the same model to match our other appliances. Within 2 weeks, the door won't open unless we push upward on the door while pressing the button. I reached out to customer support a week ago and have heard nothing.

I had a trim kit for a GE microwave which never quite fit. It stopped working 5 years after buying it, mainly because it apparently wasn't the right microwave for a built in space with trim. GE support recommended this microwave, and it is working out great. Fits within the trim kit perfectly, is quite large, and has all the features I want. I also like the gray interior, which doesn't show splatters! All in all, I'm very pleased and hope it has a long life.

This is my 4th GE microwave and my 2nd GE Profile. It's not a complicated microwave and it looks good. I would definitely recommend this microwave oven. The one problem is they don't make a trim kit that fits the place where I have always had my microwave ovens. I'm ok with having doors installed one of these days and it will be fine.

Whole house GE Profile. This microwave has a BAD door latch design. Still under warranty - door and hardware replaced already and several months later, having same issues again. We've got the built-in option so it's near impossible to 'help' the latch unstick by lifting lower corner of the door. GE used to be my go-to appliance but I'm seriously rethinking this. Another call to service center coming. I shouldn't have written off the reviews ... this is a widespread issue with the design and microwaves operation. The rest of it works great - but how can it be used if the door won't open?

We the the GE Profile and have used these appliances for over 17 years. Our previous microwave finally stopped working (GE Profile) and wanted to replace with a like for like, unfortunately they don't make the same one but we bought the one in it's place. The door sticks hard to open and pry open with fingers.

Bought to replace our GE Profile Microwave. We had the original roughly 2 years and a plastic piece sheared off internally and we could no longer get the door open. I hope they fixed this because I won't buy another if this breaks. Other than the door issue, we were pleased with how well the microwave performed.

Lettering on black is so small and light, you can barely read it. Terrible design.
Do not like the door. SHOWS EVERY FINGER MARK. Always smudged after using.
Do not like the "mesh" look screen.

First one we had came built in with a new house failed after 3 years. That model was no longer in production and had to purchase one that didn't fit the built in feature. Purchased that for hundreds of dollars and now less than a 1 1/2 years this door is very difficult to open. It's been very difficult for a while and has now failed. There are way too many other makers to get GE products. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. No more GE!

After a year of light to moderate use, the door latch mechanism broke, and the estimate to replace it was exorbitant. We found a video tutorial on how to kludge it, but that fails every few months. We have had to take the cover off so many times that the screws holding it on are all stripped. Based on other reviews and the number of results that pop up in an internet search, this is a known engineering flaw. For the price, this is unacceptable--I have had units that cost 1/4 as much that lasted far longer without needing repairs.
As a microwave oven, it's fine. Popcorn popping is uneven compared to other units, but it does all the things a microwave oven should do. Except open and close reliably. Which is a bit like saying a car does everything a car should do, except it's anyone's guess whether you can get into the car on any given day.

I bought my house in 2018. I have a GE profile built in 2.2 ft.³ microwave. It died on me and stopped heating up about three months ago. Long story short, how does something die within three years if it's this expensive? Since I have the built-in microwave that has a kit (which also cost a couple hundred bucks), I had to order the same one and hopefully it doesn't die. I remember the good old days when microwaves use to last for 15 to 20 years but they do no longer make quality like that anymore.

It's a great product. I would suggest on future products they have the oven functions lit up. It is a little hard to read the way it is now. However, after using it for awhile, I know by heart where all the settings are. It might also be a good idea to have the trim kits available.
