We purchased this to replace a 20y.o. GE. I will say it is very nice looking but there the positives end. I cook all the time and certainly know my way around the kitchen. This microwave will cook bacon/frozen pizza/reheat an item - anything/everything - in a 3" center circle only. The 3" center of an item is overcooked/perfectly cooked or charred (you never know what you will get) and the outer area is still frozen/cold. Making a cup of tea/cooking in any microwave approved Pyrex/glass etc renders the item so hot it is untouchable without burning your hands/or reaching for the oven mitt and even when you get it out of the microwave with the mitts you can't touch the cookware b/c it's so hot. I contacted Maytag several times. 1st tech that came out said I needed to put food on plate/in cookware run for 25% of recommended cooking time, stop microwave, turn product 90^ and cook for another 25% of cooking time, then stop unit, turn another 90^ and cook another 25% etc...until I had completely rotated the 4 outer quadrants of the food item through the center?! What the heck? Are you serious? Am I on candid camera/being punked? I called Maytag again, they sent out a different guy and he said I needed a dedicated electric line b/c it shared a line with the cooktop - so $200 Electrician bill and a new line later - still the same problem. My mom was helping me out and made an Omaha Pot Roast (Followed the microwave instructions perfectly) and the center of the pot roast was charred/couldn't be eaten/salvaged...the outer area was fine so 5 people attempted to share 1/3-1/2 of a pot roast meant for 6. She didn't know about the 25% cook/turn thing - who would? She felt just awful - was only trying to help...house smelled for 2 days like charred pot roast and we are told by Maytag "it's cooking as intended"... can't tell you how much I absolutely regret this purchase, I have asked Maytag for another of the same thing b/c I believe this unit is defective...they said it's working as intended so they can't help us. I just wish they would make it right and switch it out. Whirlpool/Maytag/Kitchen Aid is all the same company - so I will replace it with a GE - too bad b/c it's really a good looking unit.

I've had a few convection microwaves and love them - this model was priced well, carried the "Maytag" name. Attractive and functional. Installed it and it worked probably twice. Died a non-functional death (no power) after about 3 uses. Can't return it, had to schedule a repair. Took about a week to get someone out. Cavity Thermostat dead. Will take another 6 days to get the part and install it. I'd love to more - but I need a reliable appliance. Based on reviews, my failure is unusual, but with a 3-week time to repair, Maytag should have shipped me a new one.

I have had this approx. one month and knew I wouldn't really love it when I purchased it online. I loved my eight year old, broken down, discontinued, and could no longer get parts for Whirlpool microwave that I had paid over $1,200 for. I knew nothing would compare. Whirlpool and Maytag worked diligently for a couple weeks trying help me in finding one as close to my old microwave as possible. I was heartbroken and finally settled for one, knowing it could never compare to my old one. It was delivered and installed by Maytag. Boy was I SURPRISED!! I love my new Maytag microwave, there is nothing I can't do with this one! Many thanks to both Whirlpool and Maytag for all their help. I will buy nothing but your appliances. It's always been Whirlpool in the past but I found out Maytag is also GREAT!! AWESOME.

We have had the microwave for about a month and we have had great success with baking zucchini cake and a dark chocolate cake. It also worked well at reheating pizza. I like the quiet four fan speeds and it seems to exhaust cooking stem and odors well. We needed to use the microwave/convection because our new main oven was inoperable due to shipping damages. As far as the microwave function, it heats up our tea and coffee water fine.

I absolutely love my microwave/convection oven. I've had it now for two years. It does an amazing job. The only thing I'm confused about is that I dont know how to change the interior light bulb. It's getting pretty dim and I think its time to replace it.. Can anyone help me on this ??

This is a much better microwave than average. It has many more features and is like a Whirlpool one I had used for years. The main reason I bought this one was for the steam feature. Unfortunately it does not have a setting for rice, which my old machine had. We have had to guess and use trial and error for this. The other issue we had was venting out. It vents directly in the back center and our location has a support stud in the wall so our installer could not use the flap cover that let's air out and keeps cold in so we had to leave it uncovered and cold air does come into the unit.

Overall, I'm happy with this microwave, except for one thing: the metal 10-year warranty decal on the top right appears to have scratched it during transport. Unfortunately, I didn't peel this decal off within the 30 day cosmetic warranty as I was out of town for 3 weeks, so I'm now stuck with a machine that arrived with scratches. Unfortunately, Maytag doesn't seem to have any suggestions on how to repair it, other than cleaning it (note: this is not just sticker glue, these are scratches in the surface, likely caused by the metal edges of the warranty decal rubbing the surface during shipping. They first told me it was glue, and I made the mistake of scrubbing it and now there are additional scratches :-( ). Besides the scratches it arrived with, I am happy with the microwave, especially as it's one of the few options in the market that has a real convection option (the only way I found to confirm whether it's real convection vs. convection+microwave energy was to look at the user manuals: if you can put metal pans in during convection, then it's real convection. I have successfully baked in metal pans in the Convection Baking mode with this microwave). Overall, it's a very good looking machine with a nice handle, the exception being the very shiny plastic control panel which would look better with a more matte finish like the protective cover that it arrives over it. The fan is strong the 3 highest levels are loud, but there is a more quiet option available on low. Overall, the build quality seems good, and I personally think that having the panel on the side is better than on the front door, since the door is a moving part which exposes the wires to endless friction -- I noticed on one competitor's floor model that the wire sheathing was cut/frayed where it left the box and entered the door). My only complaint is the silly use of the METAL warranty decal over a delicate surface, causing the microwave to arrive with scratches that must have been caused during transport. I recommend that if you are going to remove it, do it ASAP so that you will still be within the 30-day cosmetic warranty. I also recommend being extremely careful with wiping this very delicate surface. (Note: Maytag may wish to advise whether this decal should be removed; however it comes across very heavily as a pre-purchase marketing sticker and not many people want to look at a "10 year warranty" sticker every day on the appliance once purchased).

I had this microwave installed about a week ago, so far it has been great. It is very quiet, seems very sturdy and the door is very solid. The cook time is good, about the same as my old microwave. I have not tried the convection cooking yet. But this seems like a very nice microwave. Recommended!

This is a gorgeous, heavy high quality microwave, but they put their 10 year warranty label on it that I cant remove because it has a permanent scratch around the shape of the label. And with appliance return policies, it is very difficult to exchange these so i'm stuck with it. Also they don't have 1 touch buttons, you have to put cook time every time. I don't get this because my old microwave you could just push 1 for one minute and 2 for 2 minutes. Otherwise it takes place of a double oven due to convection

I bought this microwave on Black Friday last year after my research for several different models. It is so quiet and warms meals as faster as my old microwave from a different brand. I have not yet used convection feature so hopefully, I will be much happier later. Fingerprinting resistant is another feature I love; it is easy to clean.
